Budgeting for a new kitchen

You can expect to recapture 100 percent of your remodeling costs

When calculating how much to spend on a renovation, remember that a kitchen is often worth the expense from a resale point of view. In other words, you will gain back the money you invested in the increased value of your home. Real estate experts advise not to spend more than 10 to 15 percent of the total value of your home on kitchen construction. According to The National Home Builders Association and the National Kitchen and Bath Association, you can expect to recapture 100 percent of your remodeling costs as long as you don’t create a kitchen that's too eccentric or peculiar that will not appeal to potential buyers.

Victoria
Victoria has been designing Wood-Mode and Brookhaven kitchens since 1996. She is currently working out of the Charlottesville, VA showroom.

Both Wood-Mode and Brookhaven feature solid wood doors and multi-step finishing processes, and both are available in traditional framed construction — where the door is mounted on a front frame — and contemporary frameless construction — where there is no face frame so the door is mounted on the cabinet case itself.
